Empty Nests – After Your Little Birds Fly Away

/ Portland Metro Area Real Estate

If your house is feeling a bit too big now that your kids have moved on, it may be time to consider a house that better fits your lifestyle.

Here are some of the reasons my clients tell me they downsize:
Now that our kids are out of school the school district we live in is less important to us.
Our big house and yard require too much upkeep.
We’d like to live somewhere that has less traffic and parking problems.
Our house has too many stairs. A single-level would be easier to take care of.

If these sound familiar, it may be a good time to reach out to a real estate agent to consider if it’s a good time to sell your property. The other factors to consider are: How much equity is in the house? How much will it cost to relocate? And is the house in good enough condition to attract a buyer?
